A + E 4Ever (a graphic novel)

BY I MEREY

A+E 4EVER is a deeply honest story about being in-between. There are so many stories we are expected to tell about ourselves as trans people in order to convince people we are valid. Instead, this is a story that says something true.
Never Angeline Nørth, author of Sea-Witch and Rainbear!!!!!!!!!

A story powered by yearning.

Originally published by Lethe Press in 2011 and called by one librarian “possibly the queerest thing [I’ve] ever read” this zine-like graphic novel was one of the first at the time to feature queer (undefined? proto-trans??) teenagers simply being themselves. As trans lit blossomed in the late 2010s, I wasn’t much concerned with keeping this story around, but in light of recent attacks on trans validity, and the steady pressure to sanitize queer media beyond that, I’ve decided to put this title back into circulation. So here it is, in all its janky glory: a messy brush-ink late 90s high school slice-of-life following a foul-mouthed butch-in-waiting (?) and the prickly andro artkid she takes under her wing. Warning: heavy themes.
